Choosing a strap for your watch

Leather, suede or steel mesh — what each does to the same watch, and how to change it yourself in ten seconds.

A small dial and parts in a clear tray on the bench

Every Osmund ships with quick-release spring bars, so a strap change takes seconds and no tools. That makes the strap the easiest way to change what the watch says.

Calf leather

The default for a reason. It softens in the first two weeks and then keeps its shape for years. Chestnut warms a white dial; black sharpens it.

Suede

Softer and more casual, and the right partner for the Rosé dial. Keep it away from water.

Steel mesh

Mesh turns a dress watch into an everyday one. It is adjustable at the clasp, so it fits in summer and winter.

Changing it

Pull the small lever on the spring bar towards the centre of the strap, lift the strap out, and reverse the process with the new one. Tug each end once to check it is seated.
